Where are you located?
We are located in Vancouver, BC, but are able to travel anywhere in the lower mainland. We offer public courses out of New Westminster (next to Boswell Dance Academy), Port Coquitlam, City of Vancouver Community Centes (please contact for details) Abbotsford and Kamloops. Please check “Register Here” page for course dates.
What is a “Blended” course?
Most all of our publicly offered first aid courses are being offered in a Blended format. This means there is an online component to be completed PRIOR to attending whatever date you have registered for. The online component will be sent to you through an invitation link from “My Red Cross”, within 24 hours of registering for a course. Please bring proof of your online component being completed with you to verify with your instructor.
Which course do I need?
Please refer to our ‘Course Offerings’ page which outlines the differences of each course. For general employment purposes, most employers require a minimum of a CPR/AED course. If you are unsure, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you. Once you’ve selected the course that is best for you, go to the “Register Here” page, select your course/location/date and add to cart!
Can you run a course at my place of work?
Yes! We can accommodate private groups and come run the course in your home, community centre, or place of work. Our instructors often prefer this so they can make the training more realistic and relevant to where you may use your newly acquired skills. Example of locations we have previously run courses include dental offices, physiotherapy offices, and fitness centres.
*Please note, travel fees may be applied if outside of the lower mainland or Kamloops locations.
Do I get a certification card at the end of my course?
Yes. Red Cross certifications are emailed a few days after the end of class and will be your proof of certification for three years.
My employer requires a CPR update each year, but my Red Cross certificate is valid for 3 years, Do I still need to re-certify?
Some employers, more commonly in healthcare related fields, have requirements for their personnel which are independent of the Red Cross certification time frame. If this is the case, you must re-certify more often even if you card is still valid.
*Please speak to your employer about which level is needed as Nov 2024 changes to WorkSafeBC have occured to include CSA standards- now referred to as Basic, Intermediate and Advanced First Aid.
Will I receive a manual in the course? Does it cost extra?
For all courses (Standard First Aid, Emergency First Aid, CPR) you will receive a digital manual at no additional cost, but printed manuals are available for a price of $20, BLS for $25 and Professional Care $175.
How long are the courses?
Times vary depending on each course, and the allotted times are dictated by the Red Cross. However, times can vary based on class size and student experience. There may be additional time added onto the end of the course if extra practice is needed for successful completion. Please plan accordingly.
What is your Course Cancellation Policy?
If course is cancelled by the participant with less than 7 days for EMR/FR courses, or less than 48 hours of a BLS/CPR/EFA or SFA course, no refund is given.
If a student does not come to a class, leaves the class for an extended period of time or arrives after the course has started (5 minute max late policy) they have forfeited their cost and may be required to pay full price for the next course they register in.
All courses requires 100% attendance AND participation. Attendance without active participation will result in unsuccessful completion of skills when not demonstrated.
While Foundations Safety and First Aid Training tries not to cancel classes, if a class is cancelled the (within 36 hours of the course time) the student may be offered a full refund or a transfer at no additional cost to another course date.
Course Credits applied to an account MUST be used within 90 days of issue.
